Why You’ll Love Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie
It only takes a few ingredients to make this gluten-free watermelon smoothie. I love smoothies all year long, but during the summer they are especially yummy! I think it is because the fruit is perfect in the summer and makes the smoothie that more refreshing!
Strawberries are the perfect fruit for a watermelon smoothie as they are loaded with antioxidants. With only 4 ingredients blended together makes this frosty smoothie easy to make in the morning or for an afternoon snack!
Ingredients
- Frozen Strawberries – I like using the slice frozen strawberries
- Watermelon – We used frozen Seedless Watermelon. Just dice the watermelon and freeze in a freezer safe container
- Yogurt – I usually use vanilla yogurt or strawberry
- Water – You can also use any type of juice. Orange juice or apple juice work great. We have even used almond milk instead of juice.

Recipe Tips
- Type of Blender – I have a Vitamix now and I love it. We have had it for many years and it’s still working to make smoothies and more! Amazon has several of them on sale right now for a great price. If you just can’t make it work in the budget, I recommend a Waring professional blender. It’s the next best thing and it will get the job done.
- Adding Liquid first – When making a smoothie, we like to add the liquid first and then add in the remaining ingredients. This helps to blend everything smoothly.
Variations and Additions
- Tropical Flavors – Mix bananas and tropical fruit such as mango or pineapple. You can also squeeze in some lime juice or lemon juice! Learn How to Freeze Bananas to use in this smoothie.
- Green Smoothie – We love making Spinach Fruit Smoothie by tossing a handful of spinach or kale into this frozen fruit smoothie for added fiber and delicious taste.
- Smoothie Bowl – Add a handful of ice for a thick consistency to pour into a bowl. Top with granola, chia seeds, fresh mint, fresh fruit to make the popular acai bowl.
- Creamy Smoothie – Add in Greek Yogurt to this smoothie for added protein and for a creamier smoothie.
- Protein Powder – If I am making a smoothie as a meal replacement, I like to add in protein powder. See Protein Fruit Smoothie for an easy smoothie recipe.
- Sweetener – For a hint of sweetness add a tablespoon of maple syrup, honey, agave or brown sugar.
- Change Fruit – Feel free to change the berries and make it with blueberries and raspberries are great additions.

How to Freeze Watermelon for Smoothies
Yes! Frozen Watermelon is great way to use your watermelon in different things such as smoothies. When we have watermelon that we are not going to eat, I like to cut it in big chunks and then freeze on a cookie sheet until solid. Once frozen, then you can store in airtight container for up to 6 months.
Now you can have watermelon smoothies anytime of the year!
