How to Make Taco Pie
Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2 – Roll out the pie crust and press into a pie pan. If needed, trim off excess around the edges. Poke the bottom of the pie crust with a fork to prevent air bubbles. We poked it 15-20 times. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the pie crust is light and golden brown.

Step 3 – Meanwhile, cook the ground beef with the white onions in a large skillet over medium heat until the season beef is no longer pink and the onions are translucent.

Step 4 – Add in minced garlic, salt, pepper and taco seasoning. Stir to combine.

Step 5 – Add in the salsa, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir meat mixture to combine until the cheese is melted.

Step 6 – Once the pie crust is cooked, add the ground beef mixture to the crust and evenly spread out. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on the top of the taco pie. Bake Uncovered for 12-16 minutes or until the cheese is melted and starts to bubble around the edges.

Step 7 – Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Cut like you would a regular pie. Serve with more sour cream, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and black olives on top.

Recipe Tips
- Adding Toppings – I like to put the sour cream, and tomatoes on top of the pie. However, if you plan on storing leftovers, only put the lettuce and tomatoes on the pieces you are eating, because lettuce will not store great on top.
- Adding in Beans – You can add in a can of black beans – make sure to drain and rinse. Add them in when you stir in the sour cream, salsa, and cheese.
- Rest Taco Pie – Before slicing the pie make sure to rest for clean lines.
Variations
- Veggie Taco Pie – Omit the ground beef and add in black beans, refried beans and corn.
- Swap the Beef – Use cooked shredded chicken instead of beef for a delicious chicken taco pie.
- Make it Spicy – Add jalapeรฑos or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Use Crescent Roll Dough – Press them into the pie dish for a thicker, flaky crust.
