A few weeks ago I bought almost 10 pounds of old bananas at Buy for Less. Since they were all overriped and were not going to last much longer they were marked down to $.29 per pound.
Yes, the checkout lady did look at me like a crazy person, but when I saw the cheap old bananas I got excited!
See… I came home and almost immediately got to work on my bananas!
First I started peeling bananas and I put three in each baggie that I labeled “Bananas for Banana Bread”. Now I have ripened bananas ready for my favorite banana bread recipe.
Then I started chopping bananas that I then froze to use in my favorite smoothie recipes.
This is one of the easiest ways to do freezer cooking without having to do all the extra work. Instead of paying full price for bananas and waiting for them to go bad… I bought old bananas at a discounted price and immediately froze them.
I wouldn’t call that crazy… I would call that smart!
This is one of the many ways that you can save money just by using your freezer.
