Variations Ideas

  • Sugar – To make this banana bread even healthier, you can use a sweetener that meets into your diet restrictions. Make it with coconut sugar or a monkfruit sweetener. You can also make sugar free by using honey or pure maple syrup instead of white sugar to make sugar free banana bread.
  • Flour – Feel free to make this banana bread with gluten-free flour or whole wheat flour. You will substitute with the same measurement as with the all purpose flour.
  • Additions – For amazing flavor and texture add in chopped nuts – walnuts or pecans, or chocolate chips. A teaspoon of Cinnamon is also a great addition.
  • Muffins – I love making muffins and this is the perfect recipe to make with it. Banana muffins make the grab and go breakfast. Just place the batter in a muffin tin to bake. Baking time may change.
  • Sour Cream – Substitute the sour cream with Greek Yogurt.
  • Peanut Butter – Before baking the bread, swirl in a tablespoon of peanut butter for added flavor.

Recipe Tips

  • Banana – Make sure to start with ripe bananas to make this recipe. It makes it easy to mash the bananas and makes the bread even easier. Make sure to not add more banana then what the recipe indicates. Adding to much could cause the bread to not bake in the middle.
  • Prepare Loaf Pan – Before pouring in the banana bread batter, make sure to spray the loaf pan with cooking spray. We even like to line with parchment paper to easily remove the bread to slice.
  • Combining Ingredients – Easily combine the dry ingredients and wet ingredients by hand or with an electric mixer. Make sure to not overmix the batter.
  • Cooking Time – Cooking time will vary depending on your oven and if you are using a large loaf pan or mini loaf pans. I like to use a toothpick to insert in the bread to make sure it comes out with moist crumbs. If the toothpick is still show wet batter, then continue baking.
  • Rest Bread – Before slicing the bread, we recommend letting the bread rest for about 15 minutes.
