How do you make good fudge at home?
Now, please don’t think that you cannot make this Chocolate Fudge recipe if you don’t have a double boiler. This is what I do: I use a medium size sauce pan and add an inch or two of water.
Then I place a slightly larger metal mixing bowl on top of the sauce pan. That’s it!
It works great and the fudge turns out perfectly each time. Yum!
The seal between the pan and the bowl does not have to be perfect, you just don’t want the bottom of the bowl to be sitting in the water in the sauce pan.
If you don’t have a metal mixing bowl, you can always purchase a bowl like this – its designed to fit on almost any medium sized sauce pan.
If you are going to be serious about making fudge and candy, you may want to purchase a double boiler like this one.
In the meantime, you can use the pan and bowl and the fudge will still turn out delicious. Let’s get started making fudge!

- butter or margarine
- evaporated milk
- semi sweet chocolate chips
- Jet Puffed Marshmallow Creme
- walnuts (optional)
How to make this easy chocolate fudge recipe:
First, line a 9×13 pan with foil and spray with non stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Second, in a double boiler, bring sugar, butter and evaporated milk to a rolling boil over medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir constantly.
Next, remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips and marshmallow creme. Stir until completely melted.
Add vanilla and mix well. If you are using nuts, add them now, too.
Finally, pour into prepared pan and let cool completely.
Lift foil out of pan and cut into small squares. You don’t need much to satisfy your sweet tooth and a little goes a long way. It is the best!

- 1 teaspoon vanilla
