How to Keep Muffins Fresh:

Baked Muffins stay fresh if they are stored properly. Once your muffins have cool completely to room temperature, then store them in an air tight container. You can even store them in a freezer safe zip lock bag and they will stay fresh for up to 4 days.

I usually just keep them at room temperature on my counter. If you store them in a container, layer them with a paper towel in between the muffins. This helps to prevent the muffins from getting soggy.

Muffin Freezer Tips:

  • Storing in the Freezer – We recommend placing the freezer bag of muffins, in the bag of the freezer. This area has even temperature, which results in the muffins tasting the best when thawed.
  • Placing in the Front of the Freezer – If you place at the front of the freezer, the temperature changes because of the door always opening.
  • Remove all the Air – For best results, remove all the air out of the bag once you have stored the muffins. This prevents freezer burn on the muffins.
  • Label the Bag – Always label the bag so you make sure to serve them timely.

How to Freeze Blueberry Muffins:

  • Once you have prepared the blueberry muffins and baked them, allow them to cool completely. If you try to freeze muffins that are hot, then they will not turn out as soft.
  • If you are freezing muffin batter, pour the batter in a muffin tin with cupcake holders. Then place the entire muffin tin in the freezer for about 3 hours or until frozen. Once frozen, place in a freeze safe container and they will last about 3 months.
  • We recommend flash freezing the muffins, before placing a freezer container. Place the batch of muffins on a baking sheet and place in the freezer. Freeze the muffins for about 15 minutes.
  • After about 30 minutes, place the muffins in the freezer bag. Make sure to remove any air out of bag to prevent freezer burn. You may need to place in another bag for additional protection.

Can all Types of Muffins be Placed in the Freezer?

It depends on the type of muffin it is, will determine how it will taste after it has been frozen. Most basic muffins do great in the freezer. If your muffin has any toppings such as strudel, those muffins do not freeze as well.
