What is Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie?

Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie is going to be your favorite apple pie recipe. It starts with canned cinnamon rolls. These cinnamon covers your top and bottom crust for the pie.

The apples are sliced and mixed with simple pantry ingredients and then topped onto the cinnamon roll bottom crust. Then the top layer of cinnamon rolls is placed on the seasoned apples and then baked until golden brown.

This pie turns out perfectly and served with a drizzle of the frosting that came with the cinnamon rolls.

For individual apple pies, place the cinnamon rolls in a muffin tin with the apple filling.

Ingredients needed - cinnamon rolls, granny smith, lemon juice, sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, cornstarch

Ingredients:

  • Cinnamon Rolls (8 count each)
  • Granny Smith Apples, peeled and sliced into thin slices
  • Lemon Juice
  • Sugar – You can also use brown sugar if you prefer.
  • Salt
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Cornstarch

How to Make Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie Recipe:

  • Prepare the Oven and Pie Pan – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a pie pan with a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls – Open the cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside. Then cut each of the cinnamon roll dough in half (to make 2 thinner cinnamon rolls).  Sprinkle flour on a working surface and use a rolling pin to roll out the cinnamon rolls with flour to make them thin.

I used the original Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls for this recipe and it worked great. But any type of canned cinnamon rolls will work great. I have even used the cheap ones and you could not tell the difference.

What is Apple Pie A Al Mode?

Apple Pie a Al Mode is a fancy way to say apple pie with ice cream. Our favorite way to serve this pie is to serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Topping Ideas for Apple Cinnamon Roll Pie:

  • Whipped Cream. Dollop whipped cream on top of each serving. Try making homemade whipped cream.
  • Vanilla Ice Cream. This makes such a decadent dessert.
  • Caramel Sauce. Drizzle a little caramel on top.
  • Powdered Sugar. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
  • Fried Apples. For even more apple flavor, top the cinnamon rolls with fried apples.
