This Copycat Olive Garden recipe is one of our favorites to make. The lasagna is breaded, deep fried and then topped with marinara sauce. It is delicious, crunchy and flavorful. Made with simple ingredients and easy to make.

What is Fried Lasagna?
Fried Lasagna Olive Garden Recipe is on the appetizer menu listed as Olive Garden Lasagna Fritta. Rolled pasta dish that has the traditional lasagna ingredients that is fried instead of baked in the oven.
It is then served on top of alfredo sauce and then tomato sauce is served over the top. It is savory and fried to perfection. The flavors are blended perfectly and one of my go-to menu items.

Ingredients
- Lasagna Noodles – We used regular lasagna noodles and cooked according to the package directions
- Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese – You can substitute with cottage cheese
- 3 Cheese Blend – Parmesan, Romano and Asiago make the best chese combination. Mozzarella Cheese can also be used

Recipe Variations
- Add Meat – You can also add browned ground beef or ground Italian sausage to the marinara sauce when serving to change up the flavor. Adding meat makes it easy to serve as a dinner size portions.
- Mix in Vegetables – You can add in squash, mushrooms or olives into the marinara sauce for added flavor and texture.
- Cheese – Use different flavors of cheese to add different flavors to the fried lasagna.
- Garlic – Feel free to add in ½ teaspoons of minced garlic for even more flavor.
How to Make Olive Garden Fried Lasagna
FOR THE LASAGNA
- In a small mixing bowl, stir together the ricotta, 3 cheese blend, pepper, Italian seasoning and eggs.
- Boil the lasagna noodles based on the package instructions. Then drain and rinse the noodles with cold water and trim off the ribboned edges on the noodles.
- Then spread the ricotta mixture onto each piece of lasagna noodle and fold each noodle into 2 inch pieces.
- Place the prepared noodles on a baking sheet pan and freeze for at least 1 hour.
FOR BREADING, FRYING AND SERVING
- In a shallow bowl whisk together the egg and milk and then place the Panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow bowl to create a dredging station.
- Dip the prepared lasagna bundles into the beaten egg mixture and then coat them with the combine breadcrumbs. Continue this process until all the lasagna bundles are coated with the breading.
- Then heat 2-3 inches of the fry oil in a large frying pan, Dutch Oven or saucepan until it’s approximately 350 degrees F. Fry the lasagna bundles in the hot oil and fry each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and place the fried lasagna on a plate lined with paper towels with a slotted spoon to remove excess oil.
- When serving, heat the Alfredo sauce and marinara sauce. Then spread the Alfredo sauce on the bottom of a serving plate. Place the fried lasagna pieces on top and drizzle the marinara sauce on top.
- Serve immediately while warm and enjoy! Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Recipe Tips
- Lasagna Noodles – Cook noodles al dente and then trim off ribbon part of noodle.
- Freezing Noodles – After placing cheese and adding the egg wash on the cook noodles, place on the baking sheet to freeze. Frozen Lasagna helps to bread them easier.
- Hot Oil – Make sure oil is hot before placing breaded noodles into pan.

We like to serve fried lasagna as an appetizer when we making traditional dishes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can bake these lasagna rolls but the texture will not be as crispy when you deep fried lasagna. Place the prepared lasagna rolls in a baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes or until they are golden brown.

These are best served fresh as the breading mixture will get soft as the lasagna sits. Fried lasagna rolls can be stored in the refrigerator but the texture might change. Place in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
When you are ready to serve again, I would recommend reheating in the air fried or oven to get that crispy texture.
You can freeze fried lasagna leftovers or if they are uncooked. After you have placed them in the freezer for 1 hour, continue cooking and then place in a freezer safe container.
They will stay fresh for up to 2 months. Thaw completely overnight in the refrigerator and then reheat in the oven or air fryer.
