Variations Ideas:

  • Change Meat – We used lean ground beef to make this recipe, but you can make it with ground chuck. Feel free to also make turkey burgers or a combination of the two.
  • Cheese Slices – Top the hamburger patties with cheese slices. Use what you prefer but cheddar cheese, American cheese or Pepper Jack Cheese is a great option.
  • Seasoning – Feel free to change the seasoning if you prefer. We have even added in a tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce for added flavor.

Step by Step Instructions:

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.  Place a cooling rack on a baking sheet.
  • Step 2 – Divide the ground beef into 8 even balls (approximately ¼ pound each). Then form the balls into patties that are approximately 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick.

  • Step 6 – Add a lettuce leaf to the bottom bun of each bun. Top each one with a patty from the pan.
  • Step 7 – Then top each patty with the sliced tomatoes, onion slices and top bun.  Serve warm and enjoy!

Recipe Tips:

  • Prepare Baking Sheet – We recommend baking the burgers on a cooling rack on the baking sheet. For easy cleanup, you can line the baking sheet with aluminum foil. This helps to catch burger grease.
  • Meat Thermometer – Use a meat thermometer to make sure your hamburger patties are cooked thorough. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees when burgers are finished cooking.
  • Cooking Burgers – When cooking burgers in the oven, there is no need to flip the burgers. Cooking them on the wire rack helps to cook both sides.
