Crockpot swiss steak

Whenever we are craving comfort food, I make this delicious Crockpot Swiss Steak. It has the best combination of flavors and tastes amazing. The tomato, onions and bell peppers give the beef such wonderful flavor.

Everything is slow cooked to perfection. You can use a cheaper cut of meat and still have the best meal. It tastes like the sort of meal you would have for Sunday dinner but it’s easy enough for weeknights.

Why is it called swiss steak?

Swiss steak is a tougher cut of meat that is cooked for an extended amount of time and braised or cooked until tender. It refers to the process of making these tough cuts of meat tender.

Can you over cook meat in a slow cooker?

Yes. Cooking meat too long can cause it to become tough and have the opposite effect. You want to cook it long enough to make it tender but not so long that it gets tough.

Can you put raw steak in a slow cooker?

You certainly can. This is another way that the crock pot helps to save time and make dinner easy.
