How to make smores dip:
First, preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
While the oven is preheating, get the skillets ready. We used 2 of the small 3 inch cast iron skillets. Put ¼ cup chocolate chips in each of the skillets.
Next, place in the oven for about 3 to 3 ½ minutes or until the chocolate chips look glossy. Take it out of the oven and top with a handful of mini marshmallows.
You can also sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top if you want to. This is optional but makes it even more decadent.
Finally, put the skillets back in the oven for another 6 to 7 minutes. You just want the marshmallows to be toasted.
What is good with oven baked smores dip?
- Graham crackers – Just break into pieces.
- Graham cracker sticks
- Vanilla wafers
- Fruit – Strawberries are so yummy and a favorite around here. Pineapple is also good if you like the combination or tart and sweet. Apple slices are yummy too.
- Pretzels – Any type will do! Twists, sticks, rods or anything.
- Animal crackers – always a hit with kids
How to make a smores charcuterie board:
We love a good Charcuterie board. This s’mores themed board is such a fun idea.
It is so simple. Just use a large wooden board. Place the 2 small cast iron skillets on the board.
Add all of the dippers around it. Just put groups of each all around the board until it is full.
I like to start with the larger items and then fill in the gaps with the smaller items.
This is so fun and easy for parties! Anytime we have made this, it was always a huge hit! It is so simple and you hardly even need a recipe!
CAN YOU REHEAT S’MORES DIP?
Yes, you can. Just put back in the oven for 4 to 5 minutes. I normally reduce the heat to 350 degrees when reheating.
Just a note- The dip is best eaten fresh when first made but reheating is certainly an option.
Tips for smores dip recipe:
- We used small 3 inch cast iron skillets but this recipe can easily be adapted if you prefer to use a larger skillet. If you want to make one big pan, use an 8 or 9 inch skillet and an entire bag of chocolate chips. Heat at 350 degrees for 3 to 4 minutes to melt the chocolate. Then put back in for another 2 or 3 minutes so the marshmallows will turn golden brown.
- You can also use a baking dish if you prefer. Any size will work. Disposable pans make another great option.
- Leftover chocolate can also be used. Just break up the Hershey bars or whatever chocolate you are using. Melt as instructed above.
