Are you eating low carb or doing the Keto lifestyle diet? This Philly Cheese steak keto recipe is packed with flavor and no one will miss the bread.

I love meals that everyone can enjoy. This meal can easily be made for an entire family. If you have family members that must have the bread, simply put their serving on hoagie rolls.

It’s a win for everyone! However you serve this dish, it is sure to be a hit with the entire family!

Low carb philly cheese steak recipe

The bell peppers and onion come together with the cheese for such an amazing meal. The meat is so tender and everyone will be satisfied after this filling meal.

We like to serve it with a simple green salad but you can easily just eat this all by itself! It’s also really good with this Quick and Easy Cucumber Tomato Salad Recipe. 

Let’s get started making Low carb philly cheesesteak!

We used a cast iron skillet and you just can’t beat the flavor. I purchased my cast iron skillet online and they have several on sale now.

Ingredients for Keto Philly Cheese Steak Skillet dinner:

  • Flank Steak
  • Minced Garlic
  • Green Bell Pepper
  • Butter
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Onion
  • Provolone Cheese
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper

How to make Keto philly cheesesteak casserole:

  • In a hot cast iron skillet, melt two tablespoons of butter and add peppers, onion, and minced garlic.
  • Saute until the onions and peppers are soft on medium high heat.  Remove the veggies from the cast iron skillet and set aside.
  • Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the cast iron skillet and add in the steak. (Make sure to use a large skillet so you have plenty of room). You can also use a tablespoon oil if desired.
  • Add in the Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper.
  • Allow to sear on each side, then cover and cook on medium-low until the steak is cooked all the way through.
  • Once the steak is done, add the peppers and onion mixture back to the cast iron skillet. Cook on low for 2 minutes.
  • Place provolone cheese slices on top of the steak and veggie mixture to cover.
  • Place a lid on top and allow the cheese to melt (1-2 minutes).

Season with salt and pepper.
Serve with a side salad and dinner is done.

  • 1 green bell pepper sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1/2 onion sliced
  • 7 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • In a hot cast iron skillet, melt two tablespoons of butter and add peppers, onion, and minced garlic.
  • Saute until the onions and peppers are soft. Remove the veggies from the skillet and set aside on a separate plate.
  • Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the cast iron skillet and add in the steak.
  • Add in the Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper.
  • Allow to sear on each side, then cover and cook on medium-low until the steak is cooked all the way through.
  • Once the steak is done, add the peppers and onion mixture back to the skillet. Cook on low for 2 minutes.
  • Place provolone cheese slices on top of the steak and veggie mixture to cover.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve with a side salad and dinner is done.

Recipe Notes

*You can use round steak or sirloin steak instead of the flank steak in this recipe. 
*Refrigerate the leftovers in an air tight container for up to 5-7 days.

    Had this for dinner tonight and it was so good. I added some mushrooms since Like them on my cheesesteaks. My grocery store had shaved beef which I used here and it took no time to cook and was tender and flavorful.
