Texas Roadhouse Country Fried Chicken:

Texas Roadhouse is our special occasion restaurant. Their steak is always cooked to perfection, but we also love their country fried chicken and their chicken fried steak. The chicken is perfectly breaded and the chicken is so flavorful.

This tender and juicy white chicken can now be made it at home. The ingredients are easy and the process is simple. The chicken is dipped in flour, simple seasoning, egg and buttermilk. Then the chicken is fried to perfection.

The country fried chicken is topped with an homemade white cream gravy. Add your favorite sides and your meal is complete. Homemade Chicken Fried Chicken will now be your special occasion meal.

Country Fried Chicken Texas Roadhouse Recipe:

There is nothing better than Country Fried Chicken for a Sunday night meal. It is comfort food that we all need to begin the week with. My family loves when this is on the menu.

Country Fried Chicken is made with skinless boneless chicken breast. The chicken breast flat and then dipped in flour, eggs and milk to create the breading. You can even dip the chicken multiple times in the mixture to create a crunchy breading.

You can’t forget the white gravy that is poured over the chicken and the potatoes.

Ingredients needed - chicken breast, flour, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper, cayenne pepper, buttermilk, eggs, oil, butter, milk

Ingredients: 

For the Chicken

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts 
  • Flour 
  • Onion Powder 
  • Garlic Powder 
  • Salt 
  • Pepper 
  • Cayenne Pepper 
  • Buttermilk 
  • Large Eggs 
  • Vegetable Oil for Frying 

For the Gravy

  • Butter 
  • Flour 
  • Milk 
  • Salt 
  • Pepper 

How to Make Texas Roadhouse Country Fried Chicken: 

  • Pound out the chicken breast until they are approximately 1/4” thick.  
  • In a shallow bowl, add the flour, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.  Then in a separate shallow bowl whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. 
  • Then dip and coat the chicken breasts in the flour mixture.  Dip the chicken in the buttermilk mixture and then back into the flour again and pack the flour onto the chicken breasts so that it’s completely coated. 
  • Place the coated chicken on a plate. Continue this process until all the chicken breasts are coated.  
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.  Then heat approximately 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the oil is approximately 350 degrees F.  
  • Gently place each coated chicken breast into the oil of a cast iron skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the chicken is lightly golden brown. 
  • Drain the chicken on a plate lined with a paper towel and then place the chicken on a sheet pan or wire rack in the oven while you fry the remaining chicken breasts. 
  • Then it’s time to make the gravy.  Combine the butter and flour in a medium saucepan. 
  • Heat over medium high heat until the butter is melted and the flour is cooked.  Then pour in the milk and whisk it in to make sure there are no lumps.

  • Allow the gravy to simmer for 3-5 minute until it thickens.  
  • Make sure that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.  Then serve the chicken with the gravy and enjoy.

Instructions

  • Pound out the chicken breast until they are approximately 1/4” thick.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.  Then in a separate shallow bowl whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
  • Then dip and coat the chicken breasts in the flour mixture.  Then dip the chicken in the buttermilk mixture and then back into the flour again and pack the flour onto the chicken breasts so that it’s completely coated.  Place the coated chicken on a plate. Continue this process until all the chicken breasts are coated.
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.  Then heat approximately 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the oil is approximately 350 degrees F.
  • You will have to work in batches for the next step.  Gently place each coated chicken breast into the oil and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the chicken is lightly golden brown.  Drain the chicken on a plate lined with a paper towel and then place the chicken on a sheet pan in the oven while you fry the remaining chicken breasts.  Allow the chicken to stay in the oven while you prepare the gravy.
  • Then it’s time to make the gravy.  Combine the butter and flour in a medium saucepan.
  • Heat over medium high heat until the butter is melted and the flour is cooked.  Then pour in the milk and whisk it in to make sure there are no lumps.
  • Allow the gravy to simmer for 3-5 minute until it thickens.
  • If the gravy is too thick, add more milk and if the gravy is too thin, allow it to continue to simmer until it has thickened.
  • Make sure that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.  Then serve the chicken with the gravy and enjoy!
