Variations Ideas

  • Seasoning – You can easily substitute the minced garlic for garlic powder. Use fajita seasoning instead of taco seasoning for a delicious substitutions. For a hint of spice add in a teaspoon of red pepper flakes or chili powder.
  • Chicken – We used chicken breast but you can also use chicken thighs.
  • Pasta – Use a pasta that you prefer or that you have on hand.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – In a crock pot, combine everything but the pasta and the cheese.
Adding the diced chicken and seasoning and sauce in the slow cooker
  • Step 2 – Cook for 6 hours on low or until the chicken is tender.

Recipe Tips

  • Preparing Vegetables – This recipe calls for onion and bell peppers. Another time saving tip is to use a small food chopper or food processor to quickly and easily chop the bell peppers.
  • Freezing Vegetables – I usually just chop the entire vegetable and freeze what I don’t need. This is how I meal prep. It’s so quick and easy and helps get dinner on the table fast. Learn and  how to freeze onions and also how to freeze peppers to save so much time in the kitchen.
  • Cooked Pasta – Cook pasta separately to al dente in a large pot. I like to add in a drizzle of olive oil to prevent the pasta from sticking.

Yes, that would work great but I would not freeze the cooked pasta or the cheese since those are added to the crock pot towards the end of the cooking time.

  2. Ashley says:

Can you freeze the ingredients mixed together to add to the crockpot later in the week?
