We love birthdays around here. Seriously, love birthdays and we make it a big deal. When you live in a family of 10, you have to make sure that one day a year your child feels like the most important person in the world, and I definitely do that. Since my kids turned 1 I have always made their birthday cakes. It has become a tradition and the kids love helping out with it. Whether it was a fancy cake or a simple cake the kids love seeing it take shape. However, I had never tried a cookie cake recipe until a few years ago, and now the kids request it almost every year.
How to make chocolate chip pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2¼ cups of flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups of chocolate chips (I just throw in two handfuls)
How to make Giant Cookie Cake Recipe:
- In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
- Slowly add flour, salt, and baking soda, beating until well blended.
- Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
- Spread in greased 14 inch round cake pan (This is the wilton pan I use). Personally, I like to cover in foil and then grease the foil. It makes removing the cookie cake much easier.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Cool cookie in pan on a cooling rack and then remove and place on a pizza pan.
- Decorate and enjoy.
How to Icing your Giant Cookie Cake:
Now several people get scared of icing a cake but it is super simple to do. First you need to make our Vanilla Buttercream Frosting. Don’t be scared. It is crazy easy to make. I actually made a cookie cake and the icing live on FAcebook. You can watch it below.
Then you will simply decorate. I suggest you get a Wilton Cake Decorating kit and some Wilton cake decorating bags. Make sure you also watch my live video on me decorating a cookie cake. It is so easy to do!

Hi Im just wondering if you think it’s possible to do this on a round cookie sheet if you dont have a cake pan…?
Carrie says
You can try. I might be worried that it would spill over.
Brandy says
This worked out great! I used a pizza pan covered in parchment paper. I reserved some of the dough and made a dozen regular cookies to cut up and use for decorations. I will be doing this for future parties! Thank you
Laura says
How’s much salt and baking soda do you use??
Carrie says
1 tsp of each
Tabitha says
Is the flour all purpose or self rising?
Carrie says
All purpose

Lacey says

Judy says
I’m making this for my sons birthday party. About how many slices does it make?

If going to eat the next day, do I refrigerate over night or leave out at room temperature and cover?

I keep mine in the refrigerator.
Lisa Bumby says
I would like to make a 9” cookie, would halving the mixture be too much? x
Carrie says
I think halving the recipe would work and just watch your cook time to make sure it doesn’t get over cooked.
Paula says
Do you use salted or unsalted butter? I just made this and tasted a pinch and it seemed salty. I used salted butter. I’m wondering if I need to remake a leave out the salt. It’s for a birthday party today.
Janet says
what was the icing recipe you used and how long would you cook it if i have a 10” pan?
Carrie says
For a 10″ pan, I would cook it for 25-30 minutes since it will be thicker in the smaller pan. Here is the link to my favorite icing recipe! https://www.eatingonadime.com/homemade-buttercream-icing/ Thank you!
Maggie says

Courtney says
I would love to make this today for my 42nd birthday and my husband’s 39th! (We were both born on Nov 23, but I’m three years older haha) . All I have is two round cake pans or s 13×9 pan ? Can I bake two in the round pans and for how long ? Thanks so much !
Courtney
Carrie says
I would use the 2 round pans – I’m not sure how long to cook for as it depends on the size of the pans and the thickest of the batter in the pan. I would check at 30 minutes and continue to cook if needed. Happy Birthday to you both!
