Can you Make ahead of Time?

These Hawaiian Rolls are best served after baking. If you make them to far in advance before serving then the rolls will get soggy.

If you need to prepare ahead of time, make the fully cooked meat mixture and refrigerate when cooled. Then when you are ready to serve, spread the mixture on the rolls, layer with cheese and bake.

Sloppy Joe Sliders with Hawaiian Rolls Tips:

  • Cooking Sloppy Joe Mixture – After cooking the ground beef, add in the sauce ingredients. Allow the mixture to come to a boil to thicken the sauce.
  • Prepare Baking Dish – We recommend spraying the baking dish with cooking spray for easy clean up.
  • Baking Sliders – We recommend covering the sliders with aluminum foil while baking. Then remove the foil to brown the tops and allow the cheese to melt.

Variation Ideas:

  • Rolls – We love the flavor of Hawaiian Rolls but you can easily use any type of dinner rolls.
  • Sloppy Joe Sauce – We love making homemade sloppy joes, but you can use canned sloppy joe mix if you prefer.
  • Mustard – We used yellow mustard but you can use Dijon mustard instead.

Can you Freeze Hawaiian Roll Sliders?

We do not recommend freezing these sliders. When thawing, the buns will be soggy and fall apart.

But you can freeze the cooked sloppy joe mixture and then make these sliders when you are ready to serve.

How to Store Leftovers:

These sliders are best served fresh, but you can refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.

When you are ready to serve again, reheat in the microwave for a delicious lunch.

This recipe is delicious, however I did tweak it a little and it turned out amazing. I only added a half cup of water instead of a whole. I added a tsp of apple cider vinegar and for the topping I used everything bagel seasoning! Just wanted to add post this incase someone else wants to try it!
