Ingredients

A carton of ten brown eggs, a can of cooking spray, and two blue salt and pepper shakers are arranged on a white hexagon-tiled surface.
  • Eggs – We used large eggs
  • Olive Oil Spray – Use your favorite cooking spray
  • Salt and Pepper to taste – Add your favorite spices

How to Make Baked Eggs in the Oven

A 12-cup muffin tin sprayed with oil sits on a counter next to a carton of brown eggs, two blue salt and pepper shakers, and a floral cloth on a white hexagon-patterned surface.

Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a non-stick muffin tin generously with olive oil.

A muffin tin holds twelve raw eggs, each topped with black pepper, on a hexagon-tiled countertop. Two blue salt and pepper shakers and a floral cloth are nearby.

Step 2 – Crack one egg into each muffin tin and top with salt and pepper based on your preference.

A muffin tin with twelve baked eggs, each topped with seasoning, sits on a light patterned surface. Nearby are two blue salt and pepper shakers and part of a floral cloth.

Step 3 – Cook for 9-12 minutes until the egg whites are set and the yolk is still slightly runny in a preheated oven. Be careful not to overcook the eggs as they will continue to cook once removed from the oven.

A metal knife loosens a baked egg from a muffin tin, with several other baked eggs in the pan. A floral-patterned towel is nearby on the counter.

Step 4 – Let sit for a few minutes. Use a knife to run around the outside of the eggs to carefully remove them from the tin.  Serve warm and enjoy! We like to garnish with feta cheese for even more flavor.

A muffin tin filled with baked eggs garnished with herbs sits on a table next to a plate of cooked sausages, salt and pepper shakers, a biscuit, and a metal spatula.

What Temperature is Best for Baked Eggs?

The best temperature to bake eggs is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the egg whites to set gently without overcooking the yolks, resulting in perfectly baked eggs every time.

Baked Eggs for Meal Prep

Baked eggs are ideal for meal prep because they cook all at once, store well, and reheat easily. You can make a full batch at the start of the week and enjoy them on toast, in breakfast sandwiches, or alongside veggies for a quick protein-packed breakfast.

Tips for the Perfect Eggs in the Oven

  • Grease Well – Helps the eggs release easily with a butter knife.
  • Watch Closely – Eggs can go from soft to firm quickly. Cooking time will vary.
  • Baking Pan – Use muffin tins for individual portions or meal prep.
  • Toppings – Add toppings last if you want them melty but not overly browned.

Variations and Add-Ins

  • Fresh Herbs – For even more flavor, add ½ tsp of basil, parsley, and thyme to oven-baked eggs. Bagel seasoning is also a delicious addition.
  • Cheesy Baked Eggs – Add shredded cheddar, mozzarella, or Parmesan cheese right after adding the eggs to the muffin tin or individual ramekins
  • Meaty Eggs – Mix in cooked crispy bacon, sausage, or ham.
  • Veggie Egg – Add spinach, mushrooms, chives, onions, cherry tomatoes, asparagus or bell peppers.
  • Spicy Eggs – Sprinkle with red pepper flakes or drizzle with hot sauce.

QUESTION: if i wanted to do scrambled eggs and bake them, is that the same temp and time to cook?

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

Yes, you can! I would keep the oven at 350°F, but scrambled eggs usually cook a little faster. I’d start checking them around 15–20 minutes and give them a stir halfway through so they cook evenly. I hope that helps! Let me know how they turn out!

I’m not a yolk fan I wonder if I can scramble the eggs and would I add milk or something to it?

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

Absolutely! ? You can definitely scramble the eggs instead. I would whisk them together first, and if you’d like, add a small splash of milk or heavy cream for a fluffier texture. Then pour them into the prepared baking dish and bake until they’re set. I hope you enjoy them that way!

Game changer and a time saver new go to for time saving breakfast

  140. Becky says:

Should you mix bacon in or just put on top? Does it make a difference with how the egg cooks?

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

Great question! ? Either way works! If you’re making baked eggs with whole eggs, I like sprinkling the cooked bacon on top so the yolks stay visible and cook evenly. If you’re making scrambled baked eggs, mixing the cooked, crumbled bacon into the eggs is delicious too. It won’t make a big difference in how the eggs cook as long as the bacon is already cooked. I hope you enjoy it!

  141. Jane says:

Love this idea. I don’t like runny whites so this makes it easier to know when the whites are cooked but still have runny yolks.

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

I’m so glad you like the idea! ? That’s exactly why I love this method too—you can get the whites fully cooked while still keeping those yolks nice and runny. I hope you get a chance to try it. I’d love to hear how it turns out for you!

  156. Kathie says:

Do you have a hard time with the eggs sticking to the pan? Every time I bake eggs, they stick to the pan something fierce, even with spray. I use nonstick pans. Any tips?

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

That’s a great question! ? I usually have good luck as long as I generously grease the pan with butter or cooking spray before adding the eggs. If they’re still sticking, you might try using a ceramic baking dish or silicone muffin pan, as those tend to release the eggs more easily. Letting the eggs rest for a minute or two after baking before running a thin silicone spatula around the edges can help too. I hope that helps, and I’d love to hear if you give it another try!

  157. Melissa says:

Definitely trying these for busy school mornings!

Kim – Yes, this recipe should work using the silicon muffin liners. I haven’t tested it yet but I think it would work great!

if you add meat to the eggs, i presume you’re going to have to stir them and that will break the yolg. am i correct? i really want to try this recipe

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

If they turn out like over easy then I need to give it a try.

      1. Carrie Barnard says:

Yes! ? The yolks stay nice and runny if you bake them for the shorter end of the time range. If you prefer them a little more set, just add a minute or two. I hope you give them a try—I think you’ll love how easy they are!
