Variations Ideas:
- Vegetables – You can also add cauliflower in with the broccoli to change things up. You can also use Vidalia onions for a sweeter taste. However, I like the pop of color the red onion gives the salad.
- Raisins – You can easily substitute raisins for cranberries if you prefer.
- Chopped Nuts – Chopped Walnuts or sliced almonds also work great. Use what you have or prefer. You can even add a handful of sunflower seeds.
- Mayonnaise – You can use plain Greek yogurt to lighten things up. See The Best Mayonnaise Substitutes for other ideas.
- Maple Syrup – Feel free to substitute the sugar with maple syrup or sugar for a delicious alternative.
Step by Step Instructions:
Step 1 – Put the ingredients in a small bowl and whisk together until well combined. Set the dressing aside for later.
Step 2 – Just put all the other ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Combine the ingredients.
Step 3 – Finally, pour the dressing over the ingredients.
Step 4 – Toss everything together to make sure it is well coated. Enjoy!
Expert Tips:
- Prepare Vegetables – The broccoli florets should be washed and chopped into bite size pieces. It is so much easier to eat when you cut into these small pieces
- Combining Ingredients – Combine the ingredients in a large bowl to completely cover with the dressing ingredients.
- Serving – This salad is best served after making it. But you can also allow the salad to chill for about an hour before serving.
