What to serve with tomato basil chicken recipe?

We serve this either over pasta or rice. Both are great options!

This recipe is delicious served with white rice. You can learn how to freeze rice and you can make this meal even easier.

I love to grab the rice from the freezer in the morning and when we come home it is all ready to reheat and serve. We do this for lots of meals and it helps on busy weeknights.

Sometimes we serve it over mashed potatoes. This Crock Pot Mashed Potatoes recipe is so easy.

It’s also great with bread so you can dip into that amazing sauce. You can get every last drop! We love this Easy Homemade Dinner Rolls Recipe.

Tomato basil chicken pasta is a favorite around here!

We love it with either rice or pasta but pasta is definitely a favorite. It makes a great pasta dish and the kids really like it.

You can use any type of pasta you have and it will taste great. We have used penne, bowtie, elbow and even spaghetti noodles.

Just use what you have!

You need a crock pot to make tomato and basil chicken.

There are some really good ones on sale right now. If you work all day, you may want to invest in a programmable crockpot.

They are awesome because you can set them to start later, or to stop and switch to warm once the dinners are ready. Amazon has some on sale right now too.

I also really like this crockpot.  Now, it’s not programmable but it’s so handy!

It has the feature where you can lock the lid down.

That feature is so nice for when you take meals to potlucks or need to transport the meal somewhere.

Another time saving tip is to use Crockpot liners. They make clean up a breeze.

Instead of scrubbing and washing the pot, you can just toss the liner. It is practically no clean up.

Try this crock pot tomato basil chicken.

Everyone will enjoy this creamy tomato basil chicken. The slow cooker does all of the work and makes it so simple and delicious.

It is so versatile and you can easily use what you have. We have substituted spaghetti sauce for tomatoes, chicken thighs for chicken breasts and just used what was on sale!

You can’t go wrong with this delicious crock pot recipe. If you have an instant pot, feel free to use that.

Our family loves this meal.

Back to follow up on my freeze leftover question…….Yes I made this recipe it was GREAT and froze the leftovers for dinner 2 weeks later and it was GREAT again! I just thawed and then reheated in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes. I am repeating this process again today so I know that I have two nights of “my turn to cook” done and done well! Thanks for the recipe.

  2. I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe – thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Truly a 5-minute recipe! I threw 5 frozen chicken breasts into the crockpot, added 1 tsp of minced garlic and 1/2 tsp black pepper, and poured half a 44-oz jar of tomato and basil spaghetti sauce over everything. After 5 hours 30 minutes of cooking, I added the cream and cornstarch. Amazing! The next day I made it again with the other half the jar of spaghetti sauce and froze each chicken breast separately for individual meals.

  4. This freezes great in the cooked form. The cream might separate some when you freeze it but just stir it well when you reheat it back up and you should be great. I hope you love it!

  5. I’m making this tomorrow – by chance has anyone froze leftovers and reheated? Would love to knock out two worknight meals at once! Thank you.

I made this but i only used 3 chicken breast and it was plenty, I feel 5 would have been way too many. The flavor was great and I will be repeating this one soon.

This is a recipe where you get asked, “What are you cooking? It smells so good in here!” I actually forgot the heavy cream, so mine wasn’t creamy but still tasted good..

  8. Can you please provide the chicken amount by weight as sizes vary from store to store? Thanks!
