Since I have a large family, I’m always looking for nutritious yet still affordable meals to feed my family. I’m excited to share with you this one pot Easy Sausage Spinach Florentine recipe!
Dinner can be hard or impossible when you have a busy family!
My family is in the midst of our many kids’ busy schedules this school season. After school, everyone has a different activity to get to or tons of homework to get done.
It can be difficult to manage everyone’s schedule and who has time to even think about dinner!
Last week, I thought we had a free evening but I completely forgot about a bonus basketball practice that 3 of my boys had to be at. Whoops!
I had less than an hour to feed everyone dinner and get them out the door. I didn’t have time to wait for a preheated oven and it was too late to use my Instant Pot.
Luckily, I found that I had 2 packages of Knorr® Selects Spinach Florentine with Penne Pasta in my pantry!
There are usually a few Knorr® Selects prepackaged sides in my pantry so I can whip up a side dish in a no time at all for my family that will work with any dinner.
I love the Knorr® Selects sides as they don’t contain any artificial sweeteners and preservatives. As a mom, I like to know exactly what is in the food that I’m feeding my kids.
Also, the Spinach Florentine with Penne Pasta is gluten free with a brown rice pasta which is an extra win for this mom!
This time instead of using this to create just a side dish, I decided to turn it into an entire meal to feed my family.
How do you turn a side dish into a full meal?
After some quick thinking, I decided that adding some lean protein and more veggies would make this classic side dish a complete dinner that I know the kids will love.
Also, the less dishes is always best for my household, so I decided to create an entire recipe in 1 pan using these Knorr® Selects that I had available. This way I would have plenty of time to feed everyone AND clean up before basketball practice started.
My entire family was wowed by my creation, and I can’t wait to teach you how to create this simple and budget friendly meal as well.
What ingredients are needed for Skillet Spinach Florentine:
Here is all you need to create this easy, nutritious and delicious meal for your family.
- Ground Turkey Sausage
- Knorr® Selects Spinach Florentine with Penne Pasta
- Minced Garlic
- Water
- Sun-dried Tomatoes
- Fresh Spinach
- Shredded Parmesan Cheese
Now that you’re prepared with all the necessary ingredients, let’s learn how to create this nutritious and easy recipe.
How to make Creamy Spinach Florentine:
First in a large pot or sauce pan, brown the turkey sausage with the minced garlic. If you need a little help try using a little olive oil to help that sausage brown! Can you smell it already? I love the wonderful aroma of cooking sausage…yummy!
Once the sausage is completely browned, stir in the water and the contents of the Knorr® Selects Spinach Florentine with Penne Pasta. Then bring the water to a boil.
After it begins to boil, reduce the heat on the stovetop down to medium heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
Once the pasta is cooked to al dente, turn the heat off.
Next stir in the sun-dried tomatoes and fresh spinach. The heat from the cooked pasta will cook the fresh spinach and combine the sun-dried tomato flavor into the meal.
Then allow the meal to sit uncovered for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Top with the parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Then enjoy!

My kids loved this meal and I loved that it was easy and nutritious too. It doesn’t take a ton of time to create a delicious meal for your family to enjoy together.
How much does it cost to create this recipe?
Now this is my favorite part. As I said before, I’m budget aware because I have a large family and I was able to create this
creamy skillet dinner idea for only $9! Let me say that again…$9!
This recipe serves a family of 4, so that’s only $2.25/person.
That’s a lot cheaper than any fast food and this recipe is a ton healthier too!
What do you serve with this easy skillet recipe?
I served this skillet recipe with a side salad and garlic bread that I already had in my freezer.
I love to freeze garlic bread so that I always have some ready when I need it and it saves me money .
With this recipe, the kids got to enjoy a delicious meal and I was happy that I could create a quick and nutritious meal before their basketball practice.
Also, don’t worry, I had plenty of time to do the dishes too since only 1 pot was used for this meal! Woohoo!
