Variations Ideas:

  • Beef – Using ground beef in your beef stew recipe, makes this recipe easy and budget friendly. But feel free to change the meat to beef stew meat or chuck roast.
  • Veggies – Feel free to change the veggies to what you prefer. We have added in celery, russet potatoes or cloves garlic.
  • Broth – If you do not have beef broth, you can make this recipe with chicken broth. You can also use red wine for added flavor.

  • Step 1 – Brown ground beef In the instant pot on the saute setting.

  • Step 4 – Set the pressure to 5 minutes.
  • Step 5 – Do a quick release to remove the pressure.
  • Step 6 – Stir to combine and serve. Season with salt and pepper for added flavor.

Recipe Tips:

  • Chopped Vegetables – Chop the vegetables to about the same size so that they cook evenly and about the same time.
  • Cooking Methods – We love to pressure cook the beef stew but you can also cook on the stove top in a Dutch Oven or in the slow cooker.
  • Thickening the Sauce – If you need to thicken the sauce, make a cornstarch slurry with cornstarch and water. Combine 2 tablespoons of each and then add into the stew.
