In fact, I cut our grocery bill by 50% off by following these 8 Tips for for Saving Money on Groceries by Menu Planning! Save that money for a family vacation or maybe just some wiggle room in the budget.

You can also try making Chicken taco soup.

I often just use what I have in the freezer or what is on sale at the grocery store. Shredded chicken breasts or thighs would be just as delicious in this soup.

I like to use a little olive oil if I’m using chicken breast especially if I need to cook on high in the slow cooker.

Another idea it to add more beans in recipes to stretch the meat. This is a great recipe to add more beans and corn to and it will make your soup go further.

This is how I keep our grocery budget reasonable. By shopping when things are on sale I save money on groceries and it really helps our budget.

I must be doing something wrong it took 40 min. to reach the pressure then counted down 5 minutes. It’s Awesome it has to be operator error.

  2. Sheryl – I’m not sure about that. Each one seems to be a bit different for some reason!

This is a great tasting soup. I LOVE my Instant Pot for ease of a quick dinner and the easy clean up. We usually top this with a little cheddar and pair it with your jalapeno corn bread. Great on a cold day!!! We often use ground turkey instead of beef (can’t ever tell the difference and it’s less fat and less expensive). Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful recipes. I converted to the Lazy Day Cooking Club but I come back here all the time!

  4. You talk about chopped onions and peppers in your post, but you don’t use them in your recipe.

  5. I’m so sorry for the confusion. I don’t add onions and peppers to this recipe and I removed this information from the post.

  6. Yes, you can but I haven’t tried that yet. I would probably cook it separately and then mix it in right before serving.

Loved this! Used ground Turkey instead of beef, and thawed some previously made frozen cornbread. Such a quick weeknight meal. ??????
