Tips for Success
- Cook on low for best texture—this helps prevent dry chicken
- Do not overcook or chicken may become tough
- Use a meat thermometer (165°F) for perfect doneness
- We tested both low and high settings, and low produced more tender results
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before shredding or slicing. This gives the juices time to redistribute through the meat instead of running out onto the cutting board, so every bite stays moist.
- A 4- to 6-quart slow cooker works best for 4 chicken breasts. Too large, and the chicken can cook faster than expected and dry out. Too small, and it won’t cook evenly.
Variations Ideas
- Change Seasoning – Feel free to change the seasoning to what you prefer. You can season with taco seasoning, Fajita Seasoning Recipe, garlic powder, onion powder and more. We have even added in fresh herbs such as basil, thyme and rosemary.
- Change Chicken – You can also use this seasoning to cook chicken thighs or chicken tenders.
