This homemade white hot chocolate recipe is the perfect treat to make this winter. Being a mom of 8 kids, they all love to get their favorite hot drink any time we go to Starbucks Coffee Shop. Making this White Hot Chocolate drink at home saves me time and money.

This recipe for Starbucks White Hot Chocolate is easy to make with 3 simple ingredients. The ingredients all heat in a medium saucepan for a warm drink on a cold day.

This hot chocolate drink can be made in a variety of ways and even better served with a white chocolate bar. If you are looking for a special drink to serve this Christmas, we recommend this White Hot Chocolate. 

Ingredients: 

Ingredients - white chocolate, vanilla extract, whole milk
  • White Chocolate 
  • Vanilla Extract 
  • Whole Milk 
  • Whipped Cream (for topping)

Variations & Substitutions:

  • Peppermint Hot Chocolate – If you love the flavor of peppermint mix in ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract. You can even add in peppermint syrup and serve with crushed peppermint candy on top with a candy canes.
  • Food Coloring – Add a pinch of red food coloring to turn this hot chocolate into a festive drink.
  • Milk – We used whole milk, but if you prefer you can make this drink with coconut milk or almond milk. This will make it a delicious dairy-free option.
  • White Chocolate – We used quality white chocolate but you can also use white chocolate chips or white chocolate shavings to melt. This will become your favorite white chocolate recipe.
  • Vanilla Syrup – To enhance the vanilla flavor, feel free to add in a few pumps of vanilla syrup.

Step by Step Instructions:

Step 1 – Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium low heat.  You want the milk to start steaming but not boil.  Watch it closely so that the milk does not over boil.

Step 2 – Remove from heat.  Add the white chocolate to the pan. Let the mixture sit for 1 minute and stir until the chocolate is complete melted

Step 3 – Return the mixture back to the heat and heat over low heat until warm.  Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 4 – Pour into serving cups and serve topped with whipped cream.  Enjoy! 

 

Recipe Tips:

  • Latte – For a delicious twist on this recipe, froth the milk and pour over the white chocolate. This will allow you to have a delicious foaming topping.
  • Steamed Milk – In preparation of making this hot chocolate recipe, you want to heat the milk. Make sure it does not boil but just steams.
  • Melting Chocolate – When adding in the white chocolate, continue to stir into the steamed milk. This will allow it to melt in smooth and creamy texture.
  • Crock Pot – This recipe can be made in a slow cooker. This would be the perfect option if serving to a crowd. Make sure to adjust your ingredients so there is enough for everyone. Continue to serve while the chocolate is melting. Cook on low and allow to stay warm while serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • Whipped Cream for topping

Instructions

  • Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium low heat.  You want the milk to start steaming but not boil.  Watch it closely so that the milk does not over boil.
