  57. 5 stars
This recipe looks solid. When it comes to ham at my table, it’s always my area of experimentation. Honey with apple juice; maple syrup with pineapple juice. I have even used mango juice before with brown sugar. No matter how it turns out and what the reaction is on the table, ham can always be used in many ways as a leftover, so I don’t freak out too much if it’s not well-received. There’s always something else on the holiday table to supplement, and, like I said, ham sandwiches, omelettes, hash is on the menu for the next week for sure!

  58. 5 stars

  92. 5 stars
Ham is a nice Thanksgiving addition to tradition, especially if you have a big crowd or some that don’t like turkey, or can’t eat turkey. This recipe is good and especially if you like a thicker glaze? Just add a little corn starch. Spiral ham can be a tradition for many holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

  93. I usually just make ham according to the package directions. Lol. We have ham and turkey for Thanksgiving.

  94. 5 stars
This is the only way I will make my ham now. Less work and oh so good!! The only thing I do differently, is add cherries. Ham is a must at our house!
I can’t thank you enough for this recipe!

  95. We already had our Thanksgiving in Canada, but I wish I had seen this recipe before that. We usually have ham for Thanksgiving and turkey for Christmas. We don’t necessarily have to have ham at Thanksgiving. We have roasted duck with crispy skin some years, turkey some years.

  103. 5 stars
Okay I have to try this for Christmas since this year it falls on a Sunday. Ham can be ready when we get home from Church. Thank you, great idea!

  104. 5 stars
No, you don’t have to have ham on Thanksgiving! BUT it’s definitely the Tastier alternative, in my opinion. Lol! ??There are some who make a Roast Duck, or some type of Fish..I’m sure there are others. But Ham is definitely my choice for me on Thanksgiving! ??

  105. We enjoy turkey so we always have turkey fir Thanksgiving. Turkey and all the sides are family favorites. We are traditional Thanksgiving people.

  106. I forgot to mention that we always have a Turkey on Thanksgiving. We roast ours in a brown paper bag, (completely rub in butter or EVOO, stuffed), pinned closed and placed on a rack. Roast the turkey in a 325° oven for 15 minutes per pound and then +45 minutes at the end. Do not open the bag while it is cooking. An example is a 16 pound turkey would cook for four and three-quarter hours or a 20 pound turkey would cook for five and three-quarter hours.

  107. 5 stars
I made two different types of ham. #1 is preheat oven to 325°. Place ham fat side up at a rack in an open shallow roasting pan. Insert meet some amateur so tip is in the center of the thickest part of the meat. It does not touch bone.
Do not add water do not based do not cover. Roast meat for 35 to 40 minutes per pound. Half an hour before the ham is done removed from the oven. Poured drippings from the pan, remove any skin and score the fat surface of ham lightly, cutting uniform, diamond shapes insert whole cloves in each score Pat, or brush on your choice of glazes and return to the oven and continue baking 30 minutes longer. Internal temperature of finished ham should be 160°.

  108. I slice my ham first and and sprinkle each slice with a brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg blend, then add crushed pineapple on top then warm it up in my crock pot… delish! I am going to try the glaze you mentioned this year as a special treat!

  109. 3 stars
I love the recipes keep sending them. We do ham for Christmas and turkey for Thanksgiving. When I make ham for Christmas I take a can of cranberry sauce mix with orange juice brown sugar and bake for 4hrs

  110. Since there’s just two of us ( hubby and me ) I don’t make a whole ham. On the rare occasion I cook ham it’s just a ham steak sauteed in butter and brown sugar ( sometimes I add honey and maple syrup). I don’t cook ham for Thanksgiving. We are team turkey for Thanksgiving.

  111. My family loves ham and I am very excited to cook ours this year in my crockpot. Thank you for the recipe and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  114. 5 stars
“Do you have to have ham on Thanksgiving?”

I make my ham by putting it on a large piece of foil in a very large pan about 2 to 3 inches deep. I cover the ham with crushed pineapple (and Juices), light brown sugar to cover Pack it down to the ham) and then pour a coke over all of it. Seal the foil around the ham and place about 1″ of water in the bottom of the pan. Place in a 300 degree oven and bake for about 3 hours. AMAZING!!!!!

  117. We have quite a crowd and some are picky eaters so we have ham and turkey in the hopes of pleasing everyone. 🙂

  118. I generally use a cooking bag when using the crockpot. Think the ham we bought was not a spiral. Always next year or even Christmas time. Recipe sounds delicious.

  119. I made this recipe. I am allergic to pineapple so I used cherry persevers instead of the pineapple. It was the best ham I ever cooked. This is now my go to ham recipe.

We love ham & this looks like a great way to prepare one while freeing up some much needed oven space at holiday time.

  121. We love spiral sliced ham. I haven’t tried making it in my crockpot but definitely will after seeing this recipe!

Great recipe my husband likes cherry soda on his ham it been getting harder to find Pepsi representative gave me 4 Natrona bottling company so will be my go to always now

  123. We usually have 23 people for Thanksgiving. The grandchildren are older now so I make
two turkeys, 1 gluten free, and 1 ham . Family stays several days over the holiday.

  124. I usually make my ham in the oven with a glaze and pineapple. Yes, we have ham on Thanksgiving.

I have been using a very similar recipe to this for years. I prefer using honey instead of maple syrup and sticking cloves and pineapple rings onto the ham. Traditionally I use this at Christmas time but this year we have many guests so it’s necessary to offer both turkey and ham to ensure everyone had enough to eat. This will be the first time we use the crockpot method. We are looking forward to having the extra oven space available for guests’ potluck casserole warm-ups.

We usually do not have ham for Thanksgiving as my husband prefers turkey. However, I do want to try making my ham in the crockpot and use this glaze. It sounds amazing!!

  127. We occasionally have ham to supplant the turkey for Tgiving. I do like making ham in the crockpot sometimes—if it’s a spiral ham, it’s going to be great however I make it.

I have always baked my ham with pineapple marmalade! Basting and reapplying during the cook time. I love your recipe! Happy Thanksgiving! ??

I usually just put pineapple juice and brown sugar as my glaze

iI look forward to trying with maple syrup !

  130. I also love to make my ham in the crockpot, and we also have it at both thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for the opportunity to win a gift card!!

  131. My daughter and son in law prepare both ham and turkey for Thanksgiving. Ham in crockpot and turkey in oven.

  132. It has been too hot to light the oven and I wanted to make a spiral ham. This recipe is a winner! Even my daughter who isn’t a fan of ham loved it. It was moist and delicious. I will never buy another Honey Baked Ham again. Thanks so much!

I tried this method of cooking spiral ham for a Christmas gathering with my family. Everyone loved it. I had never thought of being able to cook a ham in a crock pot, but using the foil worked great.

  134. I like to make my own glaze instead of the using the prepackaged one as I think it tastes better. You can use honey if you do not have any maple syrup.

  135. Hello why do you say discard the pack of glaze hat comes with it and not use it? And what can I use if I dont have maple syrup? Thanks

  136. The only ham I could find is hickory smoked spiral sliced ham (bone in, pre cooked). Will these flavors still be ok with the hickory? Thanks in advance!

  137. Can this be cooked in the oven instead? My ham is too big to go in my crockpot, even using foil over it.

  138. I like your ingredients for the spiral ham- very simple, but how can I do it when most of my guests prefer just a savory ham. Is there anything I need to add to the crock pot to keep the ham from drying out? I will be trying this recipe when it’s just us at home ? Merry Christmas

  139. This sounds so good that I am making this in a couple of days on Thanksgiving. Since none of my housemates sound enthusiastic about turkey.

Even better, spiral hams are on sale most everywhere right now, leading up to the big turkey day.

    Thanks!

love cooking my ham this way to save room for other things in the oven and the bone comes right out, so good

  141. Yes, but I still recommend using a pre-cooked ham and I would cook on low for 4-6 hours until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

  143. Yes, you can but I would still recommend using a pre-cooked ham and then I would cook it on low for 4-6 hours.

  144. When using a 10lb spiral ham, how much brown sugar, maple syrup and pineapple juice should be used. Also, how long should it be cooked in the crockpot.

  145. I would use 1 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup honey or maple syrup and 1 1/4 cup pineapple juice.

  146. There are some brown sugar alternatives that would work great for this recipe that might be acceptable on a diabetic diet.

  147. When using a 10 lb spiral ham, how much brown sugar, maple syrup and pineapple should be used. Also, would the cook time remain the same?

  148. This looks and sounds great! Can butter be added to the ingredients of this recipe? If so how much butter?

Made this ham on thanksgiving and making it again for Christmas but different type of ham. Best ham I have made my husband said.

  150. What would be the best substitute for pineapple juice? Making this tomorrow and I only have orange juice and apple juice on hand. Either of those?

  151. I get mine at our local grocery store. Walmart has them as well if one is close to you!

I made this to take to our work dinner. Everybody loved it. It will be my “go to” recipe for crockpot ham.
