Ingredients

Ingredients for a recipe include a tray of ground beef, chopped onions, a small bowl of flour, butter dish, minced garlic, dark gravy sauce, milk, beef broth, and salt and pepper on a light surface.

Variations Ideas

  • Add Vegetables – Feel free to add in slice fresh mushrooms to the gravy mix for added flavor. We have even added frozen peas and carrots for a delicious veggies addition.
  • Cream – For a richer flavor, add in a splash of heavy cream or half and half.
  • Change Meat – You can change the meat to Italian Sausage or Ground Turkey. You can also use half ground beef and half ground turkey. Chopped bacon is also a great addition.
  • Spices – If you are out of fresh onion and garlic, feel free to substitute with 2 teaspoon of garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup – For even more flavor and creamy texture add in a can of cream of mushroom soup or ½ cup sour cream.

How to Make Hamburger Gravy

Step 1 – Brown the ground beef with the diced onion in a large frying pan over medium high heat.  Break up the beef as it cooks and continue to cook until the beef is no longer pink.

Step 2 – Add in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Step 3 – Make an open place in the middle of the pan by moving the ground beef away from the center. Melt the butter in the center of the pan and then stir in the flour to create a roux.  Stir all the ingredients together with the beef mixture and cook for 2 minutes.
