  • Step 2 – Drizzle the olive oil over the sweet potatoes and season with the sea salt.

  • Step 5 – Seal the instant pot and pressure cook on high pressure for 15-22 minutes with a full natural release (usually takes around 10 minutes for the full natural release).  The cook time will depend on the size of the sweet potatoes.

Recipe Tips:

  • Cooking Time – If you have smaller sweet potatoes cook for 15-17 minutes, medium size potatoes cook for 17-20 and larger potatoes cook for 20 – 25 minutes.  Use a full natural release regardless of the potato size.
  • Single Layer – We recommend putting the sweet potatoes in the instant pot in a single layer. But you can try to stack but you may need to increase the cooking time.

Which Instant Pot Works Best?

When making sweet potatoes feel free to cook them in a 6-quart instant pot or an 8 quart instant pot. Choosing the right instant pot is up to you, but make sure you add the right amount of water depending on the size.

What to Serve with Sweet Potatoes:

Sweet potatoes are a great side dish whether you are making grilled chicken, pork chops or steaks. We love the healthy benefits that sweet potatoes give you and they are even better served with your favorite toppings.

Topping ideas:

Serve these sweet potatoes topped with the green onions, butter, salt and pepper.  My kids like to add cinnamon and sugar to their sweet potato. They are even delicious topped with black beans, mini marshmallows, maple syrup and sour cream.

For a low carb meal top the sweet potatoes with ground beef, shredded beef or pulled pork.

Just use what you prefer. You can’t go wrong with sweet potatoes.
