Substitutions and Additions

  • Change the Meat – If you prefer you can make this recipe with ground turkey. I have even did half turkey and half ground beef and it turned out delicious.
  • Change the Seasoning – Feel free to season to ground beef and gravy to what you prefer. Add in a packet of onion soup mix for an easy addition to this recipe.
  • Add Vegetables – You can even cook vegetables in with the salisbury steak gravy. It would be delicious served over mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Green beans and carrots are always good options.
  • Fresh Mushrooms – Instead of adding in slice mushrooms you can substitute with a can of cream of mushroom soup.

Serving Suggestions

  • Egg Noodles – We love to serve this recipe for slow cooker salisbury steak with egg noodles but any type of pasta you have on hand will be delicious.
  • Roasted Vegetables – This meal is also good with asparagus. This oven roasted asparagus is a family favorite and it is very simple and quick to make. We even love roasted broccoli as an easy side dish.
  • Mashed Potatoes – Another idea we love is mashed potatoes.  I love to spoon the gravy over the mashed potatoes for an amazing meal.
  • Homemade Rolls – To get every last drop of the gravy, make Homemade Rolls. They are easy to make and pair perfect with this dish.

Recipe Tips

  • Hamburger Patties – The hamburger patties are easy to prepare with simple seasoning.
  • Searing the Patties – We recommend searing the patties before placing in the slow cooker. It adds flavor and texture to the patties before being slow cooked.
  • Make Ahead – While you are preparing the hamburger patties, we like to go ahead and double to recipe. Place the uncooked patties in the freezer to make this meal again.
  • Skillet – Spray cooking spray on skillet before cooking patties.

Outstanding recipe! It’s changed my method for brown gravy altogether, but with the hamburger steaks, it’s amazing! Family fav! I finished cooking mine in the instapot, but I can’t remember how long. Sorry folks!

I’m making this tomorrow. I can’t wait. I also will be making the chicken and rice the next day. I really want to try the meatloaf, but I have a question. When I do
the meatloaf, I wonder if there’s a way to not have it sitting in drippings. Otherwise won’t it be soggy? I am loving your site
