Chicken Stroganoff ingredients - chicken breasts, sliced mushrooms, cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, onion soup mix, pepper, egg noodles
  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts 
  • Sliced Mushrooms 
  • Cream Cheese (softened) 
  • Cream of Chicken Soup (10.5 ounces) 
  • Dry Onion Soup Mix 
  • Black Pepper 
  • Large Egg Noodles

Variations Ideas:

  • Chicken – We used chicken breast in this recipe but you can also use skinless chicken thighs or chicken tenders.
  • Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup Instead of canned cream of chicken soup, make it homemade. Feel free to also use cream of mushroom soup instead or Easy Gluten Free Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe.
  • Seasoning – Feel free to add in seasoning of your choice. We recommend salt, paprika, fresh parsley, or Italian Seasoning for flavor.
  • Sauce – The cream cheese added makes the sauce so creamy. Feel free to add in sour cream, tomato paste, or Worcestershire sauce for added flavor.

Step by Step Instructions: 

  • Step 1 – Place the chicken in the bottom of a crock pot.  Pour the sliced mushrooms on top.

  • Step 2 – Top with the cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, dry onion soup mix and pepper.

  • Step 3 – Cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours or on high for 3 hours.  
  • Step 4 – Shred the chicken and thoroughly stir the shredded chicken into the crock pot with the remaining items.   
  • Step 5 – Cook the egg noodles based on the package instructions to al dente. 
  • Step 6 – Serve the chicken mixture over the egg noodles and enjoy!

  • Cream Cheese – We recommend that the cream cheese be softened before adding to the slow cooker. This helps it to melt evenly to make a smooth and creamy texture.
  • Shredding Chicken – After cooking the chicken, we recommend shredding chicken to mix back into the creamy sauce. You can shred with two fork, or learn how to shred with a mixer.
  • Cooking Pasta – We like to cook the pasta in a separate large pot according to the package directions.
