How do you quickly shred chicken?

I use a hand mixer to shred the chicken faster. It is so easy and one of my best time saving kitchen tips!

If you are not shredding your chicken this way, you are missing out. It can be done in a fraction of the time by doing it by hand.

Tips and Variations:

  • I also like using my Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix . I like making a big batch of this taco seasoning as I can use it on many recipes.

It is so much better than the package stuff and I know what exactly is in the seasoning.
  • Use ground Beef instead of chicken. If you are wanting to up your fats, consider using ground beef. Just make sure to brown and drain the beef first.
  • You can make this dairy free my using a dairy free substitute for the cream cheese and the cheddar cheese.

  1. Yes, you can Chloe. It’s not crispy like if you used pre-cook but it’s not mushy either. Thanks!

  2. I added the xantham gum about to the post and recipe. It’s 1 teaspoon. Also, I add only the cheddar cheese and xantham gum at the end once the chicken is cooked. The cream cheese is cooked with the chicken. I have updated the post with this clarification. Thank you!

  3. Vicki – 1 teaspoon of xanthan gum is needed. I added it to the post and recipe. Thank you!

  4. Also, how much xanthan gum? It doesn’t say on the ingredients. Also, do you add both the cheddar and the cream cheeses after the chicken is cooked? Or put the cream in with the chicken to cook? Thanks.

  5. I’m confused — you put raw bacon to cook in the soup?? I’ve never done that before. Will it be mushy?

  6. Nikole – The recipe makes 6 servings and the nutrition facts are for 1 serving so it’s for approximately 1/6 of the entire batch. Each batch varies on the actual size so it’s hard to put an exact measurement on it. I’m glad you liked it!

  7. I made this in a Dutch Oven on the stove-top, and the soup came together beautifully! It tastes great~ I used one cup of heavy whipping cream, and one and a half cup of bone broth…Then used the immersion blender to smooth out the beacon, chicken, onions, and jalapenos. Great recipe!!
