Variations Ideas

  • Seasoning – Feel free to change the spices to what you prefer. For a hint of spice add in cayenne pepper. Usually ¼ teaspoon is enough. Another delicious addition is paprika.

How to Make Air Fryer Fried Shrimp

  • Step 1 – Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees.  No worries if your air fryer does not have a preheat option. You can set the air fryer to 390 degrees and let it run for 5 minutes.

Step 2 – Second, get out 3 small bowls. Put the flour in 1 bowl, beat the eggs together in a separate bowl and the last bowl is for the bread crumbs and seasoning.

Step 3 – Next, bread shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture and then coat in the bread crumbs.

Step 4 – Keep repeating the process with the remaining shrimp until they are all coated.

Step 5 – Now, spray all of the shrimp with cooking spray. Place the shrimp in the air fryer basket in a single layer. 

  • Step 6 – Let the shrimp cook for 4 minutes and then flip the shrimp. Spray the other side and cook for another 4 minutes.
  • Step 7 – Keep repeating this process until all the crispy fried shrimp have been cooked.

Expert Tips

  • Prepare Shrimp – Before dipping the shrimp into the panko breadcrumbs, make sure it has been peeled and deveined. You can buy them at the store in the package where this is already done.
  • Frying Shrimp – When placing the prepared shrimp in the air fryer, place in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may have to work in batches.
  • Cooking Spray – Before cooking the shrimp spray them with an olive oil spray or avocado oil. This creates a crispy texture on the shrimp.
  • Baked – If you do not have an air fryer, you can easily bake these shrimps in the oven for a delicious taste.

How to Store Leftover Fried Shrimp

If you have any leftovers, refrigerate for up to 3 days in an airtight container. To reheat, place them in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes to warm them up and make them crispy again!

How To Thaw Frozen Shrimp

If you are using frozen fresh shrimp in this recipe, they will need to be thawed first. Usually the package has instruction on how to thaw it or you can let it thaw in the fridge overnight. I have even put the shrimp in a colander and run water over for a quick and easy method.

How Long does it take to Air Fry Shrimp

Cooking time will vary but we air fry our raw shrimp for about 4 minutes on each side. The outside texture gets crispy and the shrimp is full cooked.

How to Reheat Fried Shrimp

For the best texture, we recommend reheating in the oven at 350 degrees or place back in the air fryer.

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F.  If your air fryer does not have a preheat option, then set the air fryer to 390 degrees F and run for 5 minutes.

  • Coat the shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip the shrimp in the eggs and then coat in the bread crumbs mixture.
  • Complete this process with the remaining shrimp.
  • Spray the shrimp with a the cooking spray.
  • Add the shrimp to the air fryer basket in a single layer.  Cook for 4 minutes at 390 degrees F.
  • Flip the shrimp and spray the other side with the cooking spray as well.
  • Cook for 4 more minutes.
  • Follow the same process until all the shrimp is cooked.
  • Serve with your favorite type of cocktail sauce and enjoy!

Recipe Notes
