We love tacos and this recipe does not disappoint. The beef is so tender and the lime gives it the best flavor. With just a few ingredients, this recipe takes little to no time to make.

We love Mexcian food and Taco Tuesday is pretty common around here. It’s a meal I know that everyone will enjoy.

Let’s make Tacos de Carne Asada!

Ingredients needed to make street tacos: steak, tortillas, cilantro, white onions and limes.

Ingredients for Carne Asada Tacos Recipe:

  • Flank Steak – You can also use skirt steak, round steak or sirloin steak
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Onions
  • Limes, plus extra for toppings (this is what i use to get all the lime juice out)
  • Cilantro
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Butter
  • mini corn tortillas

How to make Carne Asada Tacos:

  • Thinly slice the steak. Then chop it into bite size pieces.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, begin to brown the steak in the oil. (you can also grill to medium heat if you prefer)
  • Add half the onions to the skillet and cook until soft. Save the rest of the onions.
  • Meanwhile season with salt and pepper.
  • Squeeze the juice of two fresh limes over the meat and onion mixture.
  • Continue cooking until the meat is cooked through.
  • While the steak is cooking, melt the butter in another skillet or I use an electric skillet.
  • Fry the mini corn tortillas in the melted butter for 1 minute until they are soft.
  • Allow them to cool slightly.
  • You will need 2 mini corn tortillas per taco.
  • Spoon the meat mixture on the tortillas.
  • Top with cilantro, fresh onions and serve with limes.Salt and pepper to taste.

We love to squeeze more limes over our tacos and serve with salsa verde.

I think these tacos are perfect with just a little extra lime and salsa. However, a few of the kids like to add sour cream and pico de gallo.

For a change, try orange juiced and olive oil. Whisk together with the lime juice and it’s delicious with the Carne asada taco.

Cotija cheese is a great cheese to top these delicious tacos with. Whichever way you like your Carne Asada Street tacos, they will be amazing!

    I am not sure if my original comment appeared. I made these for us on Mother’s Day as we had to get together on Saturday to celebrate with family. They were a big hit for my husband and me. I made the Mexican Sweet Corn as a side. I would not change anything in the recipe.

    Me and my husband loved this, my three year old wouldn’t eat it he poured meat out a d ate a tortilla and tge rice I served on the side. I liked the simplicity and quickness of these and I had just enough meat for my lunch. The only thing I changed was using a Cajun seasoning and dropping the lime tge second time I made.

    I have not made these yet but would alter the toppings, cilantro is such a strong flavor the kids do not like it and only one eats onion so would use lettuce and sour cream as they love sour cream. I would serve it with cheesy Mexican rice. Thank you for the recipe.

    Love the ease of this! I love anything taco related so this was already a win, and its so easy to pull together. I think you could get away with bigger corn tortillas and just use one also, but I know they aren’t ‘street tacos’ then, ha, My family loved it and was a perfect weeknight meal for the win!     The tortillas taste better fried a little on the pan where the meat was made. If not enough oil left there with the meat juices, add a little more.
    But use oil, not butter.

    My question is. Has anyone froze the cooked meat after? There’s only two of us and I normally freeze our leftovers. (Seal a meal). Some meats do well but not all.

    I made the Easy Street Tacos along with the Salsa Verde and it is a keeper! The family and I loved it! Even my pickiest eater who seldom eats any sauces loved the salsa verde. He even orders Sweet n Sour chicken w/o the sauce and that’s the only thing he’ll eat for Chinese take out!

    Very great tacos!! I love our local Mexican restaurant’s tacos and I never thought I would get something so similar. I soaked the meat in a marinade of oranges, lime juice, garlic and vinegar (so as the flank steak wouldn’t have a chance of being tough) and cooked the steak over medium-high heat. Then I drained the meat of the cooked off marinade, cranked up the heat, threw it all back in, and the tacos sizzled perfectly. Thank you for an amazing recipe!! Will be using again. (And again).

    These were the best tacos ever! I used skirt steak, seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin, and chili powder. I didn’t cook any onions with the meat, I was surprised how tender and flavorful the meat was. Perfect with onions, cilantro, lime, pico, cotija cheese, and salsa verde. Will definitely be making these again! So delicious!
