Variations Ideas

  • Homemade Pizza Dough – You can make this pizza with Homemade Pizza Dough if you prefer. You will need cook the pizza crust for about 2 minutes on the grill. This allows it to get puffed, bubbly, and grill marks. Make sure to flip the dough to cook both sides.
  • Cheese – Feel free to use different types of cheese to what you prefer. You can add feta, ricotta, and fresh mozzarella.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Preheat the grill. My gas grill has a thermometer on the lid, so I preheat it to 400. The high temp will give your pizza the crispy bottom crust. If you don’t have a thermometer for your grill, then I highly suggest you get one. Amazon has several on sale.
Spreading the sauce on the pizza crust

Step 2 – Spread pizza sauce onto the pizza crust.

Topping the pizza with shredded cheese

Step 3 – Add cheese and pepperoni and place directly onto the grill grate. No special pans required. I told you this was very simple and easy!

Placing the pizza on the grill

Step 4 – Close the lid and grill for 6-10 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown on the bottom.

Step 5 – Remove from grill and slice, serve and enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Pizza Pan – It is also helpful to use a large cutting board to slide the pizza onto the grill or a pizza peel. (I love this cutting board with the handle) You can also use a pizza pan, turn it upside down, place your crust on it and slide your pizza off of the pan onto the grill. Pizza pans are even cheaper on Amazon right now.
  • Grilling Pizza – When grilling pizza keep the lid close so that the cheese melts and the crust gets crispy.
  • Prepare Grill – This pizza is best grilled on a hot grill. You can also oil the grill with olive oil to help the pizza from sticking. Heat the grill on medium high heat.
